View Full Version : Accessing a HDD from a laptop

Hi,

An old desktop I have recently went kapoot on me (the graphics card) and as of now I have no display on that. Is there a way can connect up my laptop to the harddrives of my PC so I can get the data I need from them?

A lot of PC stores have HDD cradles, usually USB connectivity. They come in both IDE & SATA. Usually about £25 so quite cheap.

You can do that with an external USB hdd enclosure.
Not the cheapest solution, but it will surely work.

You can also get a cheap video card for the computer, lend one from somebody or even get one second hand.

If you have SATA drives you can swap them with the laptop's hdd (the connectors fit) and save what you need on a Flash drive / CD / etc.
