I've downloaded and burnt the ubuntu-10.04-desktop-amd64.iso

I've set my bios to boot from the cd-rom drive.

I'm able to get to the live cd menu that gives options like, Try ubuntu without installing it, install it, verify the disk, etc.

- Once I get to that screen I can't get any of the options to work. my PC freezes and doesn't load the selected option or starts to load the selected option but then reboots to a blank screen with no output. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

I've downloaded the installer twice now to verify that there was no problem with my iso.

I noticed that the download name contains "amd64" does that mean that the 64 bit installer is for amd chipsets only? If so what are my options?

I'm currently running an Intel i7 CPU - 930 @ 2.80 GHz
6 GB of DDR triple channel ram
SATA 2 - 2 TB hard drive.

if you need more specific information let me know and I'll post some more specifics.

Thanks,
