Move USB Install to Hard Drive

Is there anyway to 'move' or 'copy' over the current Ubuntu 10.04 install on my USB flash drive to my laptop internal drive?

I'd like to do that as I installed some large size apps (2-3GBs...) that took quite a while to install...so, would save a lot of time in reinstalling....

did you find a solution to this?
I'd like to do this for upgrading safely next time a new release goes out.
I'd prefer to set up a "live" working system and when everything is set up
move it to my hard disk...
