Hello there. I'm pretty new to Ubuntu and Linux.
Over the last two months I've been trying out Ubuntu 10.04 32bit using Wubi under my current Windows 7 32bit OS, and I'm at the point where I want to reformat and partition my HDD making Ubuntu my main OS (with a very small partition for Windows 7 on the side for certain things).

I was just wondering if it is somehow possible to export all my current settings and preferences for my current installation of Ubuntu so that once I've reinstalled it, I can import them and everything will be the same as it is now (I hope that made sense...). I'm not too fussed about reinstalling apps and things, just all my current settings and preferences.

Oh and also, (this might not be the place to ask, but I know you'll probably be able to answer this as well) is there anything I can use to do the same export/import process with my Windows 7 installation?

I can rephrase anything if that didn't make any sense...
Thanks :)

from your current apps you can export your settings: for example with firefox to export bookmarks and passwords, then you import them into the new install.

some info to make a real install:

Sorry, but I meant export settings such as my Ubuntu UI settings and all the settings under the System menu. Not with my individual app's settings. But thanks for your help, anyway :)
