I have so far bought two wireless adapters,

Belkin f7d1101
Netgear WNA1000

neither of those two work. I am now looking at the netgear wg111us, primarily because it is the same price as the wna1000. My question is, does anybody know if it works/how hard would it be to make it work?

or any suggestions on the best one to get?

take a look at:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/WirelessCardsSupported

for cards for which there are native linux drivers, and why get any other card, i suggest the following:

for USB 8.10, 9.04 and 9.10 the Belkin F5D7050 is a reasonably sure bet with many reports of success, including my own on PC and laptop.

for PCI, i would highly recommend the Netgear WPN311v1 - i bot 3 of them for my 3 PC's on 9.10.

i believe the first link you provided, the one with colors, is not kept up to date, just a guess. when you get a card to work out of the box, come back and post for others to see.

great. you might want to go to the link i provided and post your success re WG111 along with the others, plus a couple with problems. the more the info, the better for the next person. out of the box is just so pleasing.

I tried the Netgear W111v2 in Ubuntu 10.04. It recognizes automatically, and immediately, but is very unstable and slow. I searched the forums, but no fix. Don't waist your time, change hardware. I took an old Fritz! USB and used the Wiki, works perfect! :P
