alt & F1-F6

on opensuse alt&F1 etc. opens a shell. Why not in ubuntu ie how can i enable those?

Try CTRL+ALT+F1-F6. :)

yes ctrl/alt/F1-6 but still the same. you got that working?

would be very annoying in case of a x problem...

Well, I didn't get it working, it worked out of the box on both my laptop and desktop.
