At some hotels and free hotspots in Canada , if I connect using XP & IE then everything is fine. When I use Ubuntu or some other distros I will get kicked out after dozen of minutes and cannot reconnect.
When connecting I am sent thru a site named Eyeinwireless.com , it looks like the control comes from there.
My netbook is dual boot , but I use no anti-virus for XP - using it in such public environment is suicidal.:(

This sounds more like lazy programming and engineering than anything else - hardly deliberate discrimination.
That said, from a practical standpoint, I'd recommend making sure XP is fully updated, and definitely install some anti-virus software if you're running as an administrator. (Microsoft's own Security Essentials (http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/) is the best option here: it's free, doesn't get in your way and does the job very well.)

It is probably a DHCP client problem on your system.
