No, but there are times, between all the kids and the little lady, when it doesn't seem like such a bad idea!

My parents don't have a basement. But staying with my dad for the moment, that said I'm in the process of trying to get my new business figured out and up and running. And I'm 24 not 40, so yea I'm not that 40 year old guy in his parents basement.

My parents moved out and I've been slowly buying the house since I was 18. Although, $500 a month (+ $125 a month for utilities) out of my student loan towards owning my own house is far more productive than $750 a month towards a two bedroom dorm room the size of my bathroom... and lets not get into the ripoff meal plan.

Actually, I have never lived in any house that had a basement.

I don't think any of the places I've lived have had what you'd call a habitable basement. One possible exception was a place I was flatting about 18 months before meeting Mrs Lisati. What passed for a basement there was the original beach cottage that the main house was built around. I also looked up on Google Earth a place I used to live in more years ago than I care to remember: it looked like some work had been done where a basic workshop/tool shed had been under the house and an entrance had been added where there was none thirty-something years ago.

Don't have a basement, and I'm not planning on moving out.

Technically it is my house; my parents should be paying me rent. But I lived here for 23 years before buying it and they didn't ask me to pay rent, so it's only fair.

My parents live in a nice apartment in the basement of my sister's house. It has its own entrance, kitchen, bathrooms and sun deck..

i was thinking of doing something similar - asking my dad to put his house in my name to avoid inheritance tax, then getting him evicted and moving in =P it's a lot less painful and quicker than paying :D

I live on the first floor...... in a very small room. Meh, it's not that bad. We actually have quite an extensive basement, If we got that cleaned up, I would enjoy living in there, it's basically the length of the house itself.

Surely the amount of pain could depend in part on how well you get on with your parents?
