horizontal scrolling via the touchpad edge doesnt enable

Hi,
i am trying to get the horizontal edge scrolling on the touchpad to work on my dell inspiron mini 1011. I ma trying to set the netbook up to read ebooks and found the synaptics rotate patch which works well, but it would be nice to have horizontal scrolling via the touchpad edge working otherwise i have to go down to the bottom of the page to scroll.

i followed this thread which checks the flag to enable it via xinput and it seems to be enabled.

and get:

Synaptics Edge Scrolling (267): 1, 1, 0

also when i rotate right the vertical scrolling changes to horizontal (the long side), which is right.

so the horizontal scrolling just doesnt seem to be enabling.

does anyone else know what i can check?

Have you look at your mouse settings,,theres a place for your touch pad..
