I installed Adblock Plus by down loading from http://adblockplus.org/en/
It didn't work. Then I found out I should have installed from the Ubuntu Software Center. So I uninstalled it from Firefox plug-ins

Then I tried to installed Adblock Plus from the Ubuntu Software Center. But after rebooting, it still did not work. The Ubuntu Software Center, “Adblock Plus extension for Firefox” displays an “Install” button, so apparently the install did not take.

What is the best way to get Adblock Plus running after a bad install?

I am running Firefox 3.6.3 on Ubuntu Lynx 10.4.

Thank you.

What you want is adblock plus from FF addons then choose the filters. Personally I just use easylist/easyprivacy they can be installed together, by clicking on the add others in the gui on the restart. Now another good addon is noscript, these two will keep most popups and junk adds or any adds from showing.

Thanks wilee-nilee. I tried installing Adblock Plus again, and this time it worked:). Maybe my Ubuntu Software Center just needed multiple reboots to sort out the old install.
