Hello everyone,

I've been searching for this particular problem, but no luck so far. If it is answered somewhere, please forward me to it instead of retyping!

So I have a standard install of 9.10, and always install the updates that come up in the pop up window every couple of days. However about 2-3 days ago, after downloading the updates, the computer restarted and the screen said this:

boot from (hd0,0) ext3 fda8d932-6c28-4c09-8b0e-23a20e8c5a9d
Ubuntu 9.10 server-desktop tty1

(computer-name) login: *nmbd is running

If I hit 'enter' it removes the '*nmbd is running' part, so I typed in the login name, then it asks for password, which I put it. THen it tells me the login is incorrect.

I know what the login is, but even if I wanted to reset the password or something, there is no getting away from this screen.

Urgent help would be very much appreciated as this is a business file server, and we have been unsuccessful in having our Win computers access the hard drive when removed and externally connected.

Thank you very much!
