View Full Version : [ubuntu] Installation of Ubuntu 10.04 always stops before finishing

Hi Ubuntu Specialists

I have been trying to install Ubuntu 10.04 without success for some weeks now. After downloading and upgrading did not seem to work I already bought the installation CD from two different suppliers because I thought something was wrong with the CDs.
When I boot from the CD all seems to start OK, I get to the point of the two symbols then choose install ubuntu and the installation apparently initiates. For about 1-2 mins I see the red and white dots, then the screen goes black and I physically hear the CD stop running. Nothing happens anymore even if I leave the computer for a whole night.
I have also created a bootable USB but my computer simply does not have the function to boot from USB.
I have just no idea what to do anymore and if anyone could help it would be absolutely great.
I have been using ubuntu for about 2 years now starting with 8.04. I never had a problem to upgrade to the newer versions before 10.04. My computer is a Toshiba Satellite A15 SP1002 with an extra RAM (total 700 something).
Thanks in advance for any hints.

Did you try to run Ubuntu live session and then start the installation from there?

Unfortunately the same thing happens. Any ideas?
