I know they aren't ipad killaz (waiting for nvidia tegra2), but they can do some stuff ipads cant and you save almost $400 :)

for simple stuff (reading, web browsing, checking mail, notes, appointments, for the kids, music, expandable storage, etc.) they're good to go.

finally the $100 buck device!

and Via performance is not bad, should be same performance as my Via netbook.

i think am going to get at least 2, 1 for me and the kids :p

who needs the OLPC when you got these!
these could be the high volume hardware governments were waiting for to deploy on to the kids, specially developing nations.

The website make the MINI iPadⅡ8 look way too much like an iPad. Android can stand on its own merits so by vendors trying to make an iPad knock-off running Android will just push some consumers (like me) away. I'm totally waiting for a good Android tablet, but I don't want one that looks just like an iPad. I'd get an iPad if I wanted that.

If anyone has purchased one of these, it would be interesting to get a first hand review.

Youtube has started to integrate auto captioning, maybe they have them on the videos you saw?

They probably run like crap. You get what you pay for almost all of the time.

Yeah. But I'd rather pay for $100 worth of crap than $500+ worth of crap.

On a Via processor? That would be painful.

for $100 bucks the EKEN M001 is not as bad as i thought

the 8" EKEN M003 has an 800mhz VIA so it should be more smooth

i wonder if we can upgrade the android version

the way things are coming, i think soon we'll have some very cool pads for $100 bucks :)

I assume that having a 7/8" screen is like having the same size of screen on a netbook. I had and EEEPC 401 with a 7 inch screen and while I did like it I found that a 10.1 inch screen was way better. I would never go back to a 7 inch screen. 7 inch is just a little to small to view websites properly.

I'm still not conviced by the pad architecture but if someone wants to give me a free one I'd be more than willing to give it a fair trial ;-)

I have the m001. The 7 inch screen is just fine because unlike the original Eee (which I also have) the tablet can be in portrait or landscape mode.

I really don't know much about Android so I'm using this mainly for familiarizing myself with it. I'm going to see how it is for reading comics files.

(For eBooks I really enjoy the Alluratek Libre Pro. Fantastic machine.)

I wonder if the will end up to be as good of paper weights as the iPads are?
