Although i love how gimp has the multiple windows (image window, toolbox etc). however i would like it if you could have tabs in the windows that holds the image.

Would anyone else like to have this feature.

Also if there happens to be a plugin or something that allows this could you pleas tell me about it.

Oh man I love tabs! I would also like gimp to support multiple pains in one window - like nautilus now does.

Amazing how many users don't know how to use multiple workspaces and compiz to unleash the power of multiple Windows in Gimp.

Tabs would be good. 1-bit color (black and white) support would be useful too.

And effects layers. We definitely need effects layers.

you can get great layer effects with the gimp-plugin-registry plugin/addon.
it is in synaptic and software center... and makes GIMP wayy better!!
(or am I confused.. and you really meant "effects layers" and not "layer effects"?) lol

i also think tabs in the image window would be sweet.

yes different workspaces work well for some of it,
but that isnt quite what we're goin for here.
i use all 4 workspaces often,
but for gimp they aren't the greatest.
thanks for the [crude] attempt at enlightenment though. lol

I meant effects layers, where you can have a layer that applies some sort of effect or filter to every layer underneath it, or a single layer attached to it (so you can non-destructively apply an effect to a layer, keeping the original layer intact and you can modify the effects still).

i dont mind it having tabs. but i prefer to use multiple floating windows.

if you have a big screen, or 2 screens, then you can arrange a useful work space out of multiple windows (not just gimp windows. it can be useful to see a file browser, or another app at the same time).

so do you have the gimp-plugin-registry installed?

I'd like to see more versatile text editing features, such as being able to embolden or italicise a selection within a larger block of text. The Stroke (outline) feature would be handy as well. It's possible to do this in GIMP, but it's a much longer process than in Photoshop.
