am using a old system pentium III 700Mhz,512 mb ram, samsung sync master 794MG, i cant increase display resolution 800x600,i tried methods given in forums but it doesnt work, my friend said ubuntu will not support such a old system:(, my question is tell me a complete procedure to increase resolution or suggest me anyother linux that supports good to my cpu

U may try Linux Mint(Base OS :Ubuntu) or Sabayon(Base OS:Gentoo).

try ubuntu 8.10 , I installed it on samsung m5670, Pentium III 1000mhz, with 256mb of RAM. I don't have any problem with screen resolution and It works good as Printer server :)

dude u need to install the display drivers first ubuntu is the best when to comes to old systems ):P
