This may not be the right forum, so please direct me if I'm in the wrong place. But here's what I would like to do. I have a laptop which I would like to be able to use both as a standard desktop as well as an XBMC when I want it to. I already have XBMC running and configured. So here's my question:

Is there a way to configure grub2 (I'm using lucid of course) so that I can choose between an automatic login into an XBMC environment or a manual login for Gnome?

I don't have enough hard drive space to create a new partition and have a separate installation for XBMC. So what are my options? Is there a way to configure anything so that I can choose between XBMC and Gnome at the boot screen, instead of having to wait until the login screen, choose between them from the popup menu, and then enter my password?
