Hello all, I am using ubuntu 10.04 on my laptop. I have installed a lot of packages from online repo that are cached in my /var/cache/apt/archives directory. They are around 800 Mb.

For some reasons I want to format my hard disk and then reinstall ubuntu from scratch. Is there any way I can copy all the .deb packages on external drive and then use them again to install packages after ubuntu reinstallation??

Can I make synaptic use these packages?? Or any other way??

Yeah just put them back in the same location after you reinstall and synaptic/apt will use them if necessary when you update & install stuff.
