Hello,

My update manager on Ubuntu Lucid is telling me that there are several security updates & recommended updates (about 80mb of packages).
I'm hesitated to do the updates since my system is running fine (and also one of the updates include the linux-image and that freaked me out!)
So, is it possible that updating system might corrupt the system?? or it is completely safe to proceed with the updates???

Update Manager will ruin your system when you run 'Partial Upgrade'. Please stay away from those. But as far as what it wants to do now, there shouldn't be any issues.

You mean I can upgrade safely as long as I don't de-select some updates??

If the Update Manager warns you about not being able to Upgrade (by asking you if you want to do a "Partial Upgrade") then don't do it. If it doesn't show any warnings, then just go ahead.
It would ask for confirmation if that was the case.

Which updates are you wanting to 'deselect'?

Which updates are you wanting to 'deselect'?

I'm just asking "if' I deselect, for example, what would happen if I deselect the "gedit" update???
