Help with Installation.

Yeah I tried to use the cd method to install ubuntu onto my desktop,but like it always said error reading boot cd, and I even made like 3 or 4 copies. So I decided to go online and use the windows installer version, and it worked, the only problem is that it didn't uninstall the Windows XP version I had on there. So if anyone could help me with uninstalling Windows XP, or how to get the boot CD to work,I'd really appreciate the help.

Problems with the CD most often stem from corruption and/or burning at a high speed, in my experience.

Check the md5 and make sure that you burn at around 4x
