does the men being the majority them less important?
does the women being the minority make them more important?

Personally: both Men and Women using Ubuntu should be noticed equally. One's gender amount should not dictate how showed off their presence is.

Like the IBM linux commercial said:

A player who makes a team great is more valuable than a great player. Losing your self in the group for the good of the group, that's teamwork.
While it is nice to have both genders using Ubuntu, splitting off to smaller groups just discourages people from being more part of the full community.
We shouldn't (for example) be in sub group B. which is part of Group A with association of Group C in connection with Group D.

We are all in the Ubuntu community.

Gah... why did you have to go there?

Women, to my knowledge, are actually the majority... though I will not dispute the fact that they have not been treated as such in most cultures.

To the OP:

You should not feel out raged -- though I understand your point -- you may have failed to appreciate the purpose of the other thread.

The majority of Ubuntu users?

Why do we even need a list of men or women? What a ridiculous idea.

No... I simply meant majority.... as in world population.

Not sure about this thread...

I think the OP may have not understood the purpose of the other thread though.

I agree we must be vigilant about points though... they can hurt.

I think the OP may have not understood the purpose of the other thread though.
what is said purpose?

all i see is a thread that makes a bigger line in gender separation of usage and contributions.

it is one chromosome difference. a difference which changes what body parts we have and the role in reproduction in which we take.

these difference should not have an effect on Ubuntu and should not matter in the ubuntu community.

I, too, would like to see an Ubuntu Men group made, as well as an Ubuntu LGBT group. After all, why not? Especially LGBT members, we hardly get represented at all in comparison to men OR women.

Edit: But seriously, an Ubuntu Men group would be a good first step towards group egalitarianism in the Ubuntu community.
