I seem to be having a bit of trouble installing 10.04 /9.10 on my pata 80gb drive even my canonical issued 9.10 cd doesnt even work.
I get squashfs error after error ive tried everything to no avail. I verified the integrity of the cd its good md5 hashes match.
However i noticed that only 9.10 and 10.04 report that my hard drive has some problems with it neither mint linux ,arch linux, nor windows report any errors. anyone have any idea how this might have come about ?

p.s. I thought i should mention that i have it partitioned already and gparted puts the ! on my windows partition don't know why maybe windows part is corrupted ? it works fine though

any help would be greatly apreciated thanks in advance :)

seriously i use ubuntu for nearly everything (even windows tasks) unless i absolutely need to use windwos i dont and prefer not to because ubuntu is where im comfortable at so i really need help it installed fine on my puny 733mhz desktop i dont really understand why it wont on my laptop it gets to 56% and give an i/o error however i just installed it under wubi(i really hate that method of install) so now i have two bootloaders one (windows xp(doesnt exist).windows media center, ubuntu) (if i choose ubuntu then it kicks in to grub) and then i get(ubuntu, recovery, memtest, windows, windows) its really frustrating being stuck in windows so help is really appreciated. :)

I don't know but I found this:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SquashfsErrors

I do know that the mods will shout at you for bumping a thread too often.

So, look that over and if it's not helpful we'll discuss :)

No problem. We learn by doing :)

I've been "shouted at" more than once.
