not being able to run

hi,
i am not able to login to KDE in ubuntu.
i can login to gnome perfectly but as i select KDE from the login screen nothing happenes !!!
only thing i can do then is ctrl+alt+del and see the logout dialogue.
please help !!!

Try installing kde-minimal (apt:kde-minimal), kde-full (apt:kde-full) or kubuntu-desktop (apt:kubuntu-desktop)

Make sure you have the plasma-desktop package installed. There have been a bunch of threads where people have installed KDE ontop of Ubuntu and ended up without the plasma shell, which leaves you with a black screen and no panels. Alt+F2 should still pull up a run box though.
