View Full Version : [ubuntu] Unable to boot from usb
tsh

I'm trying to install on a machine without a cd drive. Just used a machine with a new install of 10.4 to make a notable usb (8Gb). It boots to the ubuntu display, then nothing. Escape shows
Glob-WARNING getpwuid_r() failed due to unknown user id (0)
Ideas?

What did you use to make the bootable flash drive, UNetbootin? usb-creator?
Have you checked the MD5SUM of your downloaded iso?
Corrupt iso's have kept me entertained for hours.

I used the 'startup disk creator' (sub-creator-gtk, I think). Just taken me a while to find the md5sum, but that's OK.
No longer a pressing problem, I found a cd drive in the loft - but I'm guessing its not just me!
