Hi guys. I just would like to know if the Ubuntu .ISO that we can download in the official site is upgraded, or still the same till the next release. Example: If i download the version 10.04 now and one day before the release of 10.10, the files will be the exactly the same?
Thank you.

As far as I know, because 10.04 is LTS version, the ISO is upgraded from time to time (not sure how often). In between, until the next LTS, the images of other releases are the same as when first released.

For example, for 9.10 the images were the same until 10.04 release. But for 10.04 they will change because it's LTS. Next to the files there is a date so you know when the image was changed/uploaded.

The normal releases remain exactly the same. LTS releases get updated periodically, i.e. 10.04, 10.04.1, 10.04.2, etc.

Hardy is currently 8.04.4; Lucid 10.04.1 is due out 7/29/2010.

What is best is the daily cd.

This will save you some time with updates.

These are the daily cds from the development cycle. If you notice, none of them have been updated since Lucid was released. (I'm assuming they'll also switch over to the Maverick daily isos once they start being built.)

I believe they have I have both rc's and daily's they are different I believe, but I haven't looked real close. Yes it will go to maverick soon.

Thanks for answering guys. So, i presume that we have no updates (on version 10.04) since the release, because if i enter this site:
http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download
it says:
"Begin Download
Ubuntu Desktop 10.04 LTS (32-bit) "

in a green box, and not

"Begin Download
Ubuntu Desktop 10.04.xx LTS (32-bit) "

am i right?

And If they dont show explicit there, where can i check the version?
Thanks again.

If you go here:
http://releases.ubuntu.com/lucid/

and scroll to the bottom you can see the images. And the dates next to all images. Right now you can see the Lucid alternate image was released on 27-April and desktop image on 29-April.

Once there is image with newer date, you know it's new.

I'm not sure whether there is exact schedule, one of the other replies already gave you a 10.04.1 planned release date. But looking at the dates of the images on this webpage is enough.

10.04.1 is confirmed to be released on July 29th. (Source: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MaverickReleaseSchedule). You can see the tentative dates of the other three point releases before the next LTS here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReleaseSchedule/LTStoLTS
