I am using wubi to install from Windows. The first couple times, I kept getting an "unrecoverable error" message after rebooting and so after searching the forums, I tried to install from the demo version. The demo version opens up, but then whenever I click on that desktop the link to install, the window will open up on the bottom for like 2 seconds and then close. This also happens when I try to open up firefox in the demo. Someone said my hard drive or something is corrupted. I don't really know.
(I am typing this in windows.)

It's not a "demo version"; it's a LiveCD. The version on disk is the "full version", not a demo.

You should NEVER force an install on an untried machine -- bad idea.

Boot from the LiveCD and try it out first. Anything that doesn't work will range from trivial to impossible to fix after installation.

Post back here with any problems you encounter using the LiveCD.
