Today I found myself discovering Wine, the windows emulator .
I started browsing through a hard drive full of folders containing windows software, separated by categories, pirated or legal, shareware or freeware and so on.

I went folder by folder looking at each piece of software in my collection .

As I seek some software to try out in Wine, I kept excluding one by one :

- this ones are to seek and clean windows virus
- this ones are to repair the windows registry
- this ones are to copy the windows registry in one format
- this ones are to convert the windows registry to and from formats
- this one are to try to save users registry entries so it can be used in other insttalations
- this ones are to try to keep the partition clean
- this ones are to try repair partitions
- this ones are to try repair partitions from MsDOS
- this ones are to find rootkits
- this ones are to clean some rootkits and other to clean others
- this ones are to repair damages done by repair tools
- thiiiis one

... not when I seem to hear a bell ringing ...
... what ?!?!

... wake up !

Wine stands for Wine Is Not and Emulator.

Otherwise, amusing anecdote.

I only use wine for E-sword (http://www.e-sword.net/). Yep, just one program.

That was pretty funny.

I remember it actually was like that with Win-XP some years ago.
I think it got better with service pack 2, or maybe I just didn't care anymore?
Especially this one had me LOL, because I actually had one of those:

"- this ones are to repair damages done by repair tools"

Central point had a repair tool, that could repair file system errors that could occur after running checkdisk or scandisk.
