How can I go back to 9.04 UNR?

The problem with being unable to turn off the touch pad and the sleep/suspend freeze upon closing the lid of my Dell Mini 9 really compromises the usefulness of 10.04. Can I go back to 9.04 without erasing the applications I have on the machine?

Not easily. In general, the only way to downgrade to a previous release is to reinstall. It's theoretically possible to remove the existing ubuntu packages without reformatting the partitions, but that can be very tricky unless your 3rd party apps were very careful about where they installed themselves.
