Could not install the upgrades

I am running 8.04 and am trying to upgrade to 10.04. When I run the upgrade it gives me this error:

Could not install the upgrades

Error during commit
'E:Couldn't configure pre-depend jre for openoffice.org.writer2latex. Probably a dependency cycle'

Restoring original system state

Does anyone know how to get pass this? :confused:

I have uninstalled open office , but this did not help.

I think you need to remove Java (jre) to get past your problem.

Thanks for the reply jjcv. I don't know if that would of worked because I had already started incremental upgrades. In other words I went from 8.04 to 8.10 to 9.04 and so on until I finally got 10.04 installed.
