NBE Auto-switching to "Favorites"

I just installed a copy of 10.4 NBE and every time I open an application the program "minimizes" and the GUI goes back to "Favorites". How can I correct this? Thanks.

Weirdness abounds. I logged off and logged into the NBE(NBR) 2D and everything works. I am installing compiz now and will try to relogin to the original NBE(NBR).
