Automated speedtest application?

I've been having a problem with my DSL connection and I know it's up/down around 9 at night. Is there some sort of an automatic test that I can set to perform, say every hour, to see if the problem is happening other times of the day? I saw JDSpeedTester for windows that I think might work but I'd rather not use windows..

You could use Speedtest.net (http://www.speedtest.net/). To automate, use iMacros (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3863) extension.
