Applicaiton installs?

Ok i am not sure if this is the right place if not please tell me where because at this point i am lost.

I am trying to figure out how to install this program i found at
http://www.purplepixie.org/freenats/

It is a simle application that monitors systems.

I have uncompressed it but i cant figure out how to install it.
Can some one help me out please it's driving me nuts reading many websites on installing things and getting no place after a week.

It seems you need to install apache + php / mysql to have it working.
Please google that "ubuntu install amp".
Then you'll have to follow the instructions and place the php code in the web server (apache) directory tree.

Nagios isn't easier for your needs?

My understanding is when you install the LAMP install all that stuff is there?
