No. Seriously.

Unless MS forces to users to use IE (which they may do) making Office available on line would suddenly, in effect, make Office (or a somewhat limited version of it) available to Linux users (and for free).

Interesting development.

Well, if it requires IE, then the user agent switcher would most likely do the trick.

I am pretty sure they will find a way to make it not work on Linux. Probably by making it use Silverlight extensively.

Well, we do have moonlight. It's sluggish, but it works (for the most part).

Basically, they are discounting it $5 or $2:

Microsoft will be selling Word and Excel to OEM mfrs for $5, or $2 if they load a bunch of MS adware and social networking crap on it.

Office software will all be freeware shortly. Apple is selling it for $99 per 5 seats ($20 a seat), OpenOffice is free, and MS is going cheap this year.

Office Live (what the link describes), is available here: http://workspace.officelive.com/

It's in Beta form currently. I've tried it out in Linux, and it requires a Windows OS. Tried using the User Agent Switcher (in any IE mode) and managed to get past the Windows Live Login page, where it got stuck at the login animation. Someone may want to try using it in ie4linux (I'm afraid I couldn't due to network proxy problems): http://www.tatanka.com.br/ies4linux/page/Main_Page

An appropriate device, Internet connection, and a supported browser (supported browsers include Internet Explorer 7 or later for Windows, Safari 4 or later for Mac, and Firefox 3.5 or later for Windows Mac or Linux) are required.

Silverlight will apparently make it faster and render better, but it is not necessary to run.
