texlive-* breaks apt on lucid upgrade

OK, so I recently upgraded to Lucid, and now I'm getting an error from apt saying it can't remove certain programs, with a dpkg error 1.

When i issue: sudo apt-get -f install, I get:

So I open Synaptic, to see the list of installed files. Nothing. Except for the package "jadetex", which lists two files:

/etc/texmf/fmt.d/40jadetex.cnf
/etc/texmf/texmf.d/96JadeTeX.cnf, but...

So I'm at a total loss as to what to do. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

UPDATE: I got an error message from the Update Manager saying my software index was broken. How do I go about repairing it?

as a general workaround: clean the system and make some room:

- into synaptic repo (sources.list): check that you only have genuine lucid repo activated, no ppa or third party

- then clean, autoclean, autoremove, update, install -f

if you still have complaint about texlive* files: install locate, gconf-cleaner and bleachbit
1) with "locate" + package (texlive*): you find the path(s) for that file, then you can delete it
2) gconf-cleaner will clean some left behind issues (yes to all)
3) bleachbit make more room, but take time to read each setting

sudo dpkg --configure -a
sudo shutdown -F -r now (force a fsck on next boot)

Dino99: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I had already disabled the 3rd party repos, but I was poking around in the man pages for dpkg and coming up empty.

For clarification, I followed Dino99's sequence thusly:

sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get autoclean
and so on through to:

sudo apt-get -f install

That seemed to fix things without needing to go to the additional steps of using locate, gconf-cleaner & bleachbit. I followed those suggestions later as an abundance of caution.
