I upgraded my Acer laptop from 9.10 to 10.4. Everything is working, except this.. When booting, there is no splash screen. Upon booting, the mouse pointers are missing (All I have is an “X”), the title bar is missing, and the visual effects are turned off. If I go into appearance and select the visual effects, it searches fro the driver, finds it & and all the above mentioned issues go away. On re-booting, all settings are lost & I need to restart the visual effects again.
So it appears to be a display driver issue (The laptop has an Intel X3100 Mobile display), or more specifically, that the proper driver is not installing at boot. Any suggestions?
