View Full Version : [ubuntu] Live CD freezing up

May 11th, 2010, 10:17 AM

I tried installing 10.04 from scratch from the live CD (run from USB stick via unetbootin), but couldn't because whenever I clicked on the Install icon the system came to a screeching halt (ok, there was not any actual screeching).

I'd be grateful for any tips that may help resolve this situation.
Frankly, I am reluctant to install 10.04 with the alternate CD if the Live CD won't even run (I experienced the same freeze-ups when I attempted to run other software).

My system is admittedly elderly so I'm not expecting wonders, but even 9.10 still worked (albeit not very well, it also liked to freeze up, sometimes several times in a row, sometimes not for days). 9.04 still works fine.
