Is there any way to skin my gnome terminal to look more like the KDE 3 konsole? It looks way more vibrant and colorful.

You could install konsole.

Not sure what you mean. You can left click profile > profile preferences and change background, text color, font and size and quite a few other options.

Yes but the fact that Terminal is monocolor unless you invoke a ls or something is still a problem. I like how konsole has different colors for the user, the hostname, and its output.

You can change this in your .bashrc file.
