Hi All,

I'm having a few problems after upgrading from 9.10 to 10.4.

I upgraded Ubuntu from the Update Manager and all went well, it seems.

But, when I restarted and got the login screen, I entered my username and password and it all went wrong.

Basically, it first gives me an error:

Could not update ICEauthority file /home/eddie/.ICEauthority

I then click close and another error appears:

There is a problem with the configuration server (/usr/lib/libgconf2-4/gconf-sanity-check-2 exited with status 256)

I then click close again and another error appears after about a 10 second gap:

Nautilus could not create the following required folders: /home/eddieDesktop, /home/eddie/.nautilus . Before running Nautilus, please create these folders or set permissions such that Nautilus can create them.

After I click on OK, it just sits and does nothing.

I can Alt + F2 to gain access run application and gain access to the system monitor but nothing else.

I really need the files on my old installation but I can't get access to them even using the Live CD. Everything appears to be locked down.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks in advance.

Eddie
