mouse and keyboard not responding

Hi,
I just upgraded from 9.10 to 10,4 via update manager and now when I switch on, the boot process seems to work but when I arrived to the login page, I can't use mouse or keyboard.
The system is not freezed because I can see the watch on the lower right running properly.
Any Idea?

Is there any option to remove or add in the boot procedure to try to resolve the problem?

I have have also upgraded from 9.10 to 10.04 and I too am having problems with my mouse and keyboard although, I manage to log in and get less than a minute before the computer stops recognising any mouse movements and/or keypresses on the keyboard!

There will be a bug somewhere! :(

well, having already installed kde and kdm, I am managing to run that instead of gnome and gdm with absolutely no problem... so far anyway!
