View Full Version : [ubuntu] 10.04 Grub Menu Problem

May 9th, 2010, 11:27 AM
I recently upgraded from 9.10 to 10.04, and upon installing 10.04 it upgraded my GRUB boot-up menu. It says it detected my Windows XP installation just fine, however when I select it on the GRUB menu on startup it is stuck on the flashing underscore in the top right and nothing happens. Can somebody help me fix this please because I have a lot of important data on my Windows partition.

Aborted. Press any key to exit.

I have windows 7 as well as ubuntu 9.10...
i looked into some forums as to how to install grub but when i am following that procedure its saying unknown file system 'ext4',

can i use ubuntu 8.1 live cd to install the grub and later change it to grub2,, since i am having only ubuntu 8.1 cd right now....
