My first installation HELP ME PLEASE!!

Hi guys,
this is my first time in Ubuntu and I have found it very interesting.

I want to install AVAST 4 ver 1.3, but the problem is that I have already installed the previous version 1.0
How can I uninstall the previous?

If I write in the terminal:

sudo dpkg -r avast4workstation

then Ubuntu ask me the password, but my keyboard does not work, I am not able to write!!!

Hey pal... go to ubuntu software center and look for ur program .. remove it from there.. What do u mean ur keyboard doesnt works? u typed on this thread....

On the password line, in the terminal, the cursor does not move but it does register your password that you typed.
