So I was stupid and decided to get clever and follow this article which simulates aero snap in Ubuntu:
http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2009/11/aero-snap-ubuntu-linux.html

It worked great, until it resized my desktop so it only displays on the right half the screen! I can't find out how to reverse this damage. It only effects one user, but I can't find the setting for desktop size and placement. Please help I don't want to delete the user and lose all of my settings.

Note: although the desktop is only half the screen, every other program displays fine.

You can try any of the following in the order they appear:-

1. Disable visual effects [None] and Logout & Login
2. Change (($WIDTH/2)) to (($WIDTH/1))
3. Reset the commands in commands0, 1, 2 etc and Logout & Login
4. Reset all compiz preferences to Default and Logout & Login

Please try and post back.
