I am trying to set up a mac-like dashboard so I can view/hide my widgets, but when I'm in compiz, I don't have an option for widget layer.

I installed screenlets, but I'm pretty sure that's useless until I have the widget layer set up.

any help would be appreciated!

He meant he moved it to another part of the forums :)
As for widgets, the actual widget layer is activated be going into compiz config and activating it from there. If you only have the basic plug ins, get the extra plug ins that appear in the software center when searching 'Compiz Config'

You know compiz does has a plugin to show/hide the widget layer.

Just install compiz-fusion-plugins-extra, but after that you have to search for it in CCSM on your own... cause I'm also looking forward to it (i.e. I' working on it)
