Hello

The Geforce 6800 in my aging Desktop died, what is a good cheap card that I can replace it with? I am looking for something that matches the other parts in my system, I did have a Geforce 9800 but it obviously didn't fit the system's other outdated parts. I am not really a gamer since my computer is falling behind, but I would like a card that can handle Left4dead on low to medium settings. Before doubting that system can even handle something like left4dead, remember that my processor is overclocked.

suggestions?

Here are my specs

Asus A8N-E
AMD Athlon 3200 2.5 Ghz Overclocked
2 GB DDR1 Ram

If you have PCI-E 2.0 there are many older generation Nvida cards with 512 to 1 gb of memory from $25.00 - $100.00 @ Tiger direct and New egg

I looked up your board and you have PCI X16 so a Galaxy GE Force 8400GS 512 mb will work, they are
about $ 30.00 right now.

Great, that's about the price range I was looking for. Since my CPU and RAM are overclocked and since the PC is on its last leg anyway; I might go with a step below that research overclocking a GPU.

I know I am terribly cheap :lolflag:

Be forewarned... I have a Galaxy GeForce 8400 GS and it does not work on Karmic or Lucid.

I installed 9.10 with one and have been running lucid with one with no problems. I run Compiz and Emerald without issue.
