I am a recovering ex-windows user migrating to Ubuntu and I run into a bit of trouble. I upgraded from karmic 64-bit to lucid using upgrade manager. However, the lucid-lynx that upgrade manager installed is the 32-bit version. No option was offered by upgrade manager so I thought it would install the 64-bit version since that is what it was running. I tried to re-install using the alternate AMD64 cd but I got the message 'unable to locate any package files, perhaps it is not a Debian Disc or the wrong architecture?" I want a 64-bit OS so I can access the 6Gb in my machine. I am hoping somebody might have a suggestion how to easily upgrade to lucid 64-bit without doing a total re-install from a cd.

My setup:
Intel core I7 720 2.6Khz
6Gb DDR
evga X58 SLI
evga gtx285
Grub2 with XP/Ubuntu
