Strange panel item after Lucid upgrade

Hi,
I just upgraded to Lucid and I now seem to have an extra item in my panel (see screenshot). If I right-click on it I get the same menu as I would be right-clicking on any other part of the panel, so it doesn't seem to be a panel item. What can I do to remove it?

You saying that it does not give you an option to - remove item - just remove panel?
