10.04 Boot error, handbrake error and chrome error

Hi,

I recently did a fresh install of 10.04.
When I rebooted it today, during the start up, it game me:
ata 5: COMRESET failed (error=-32)

Does anybody know what that means?

Also, I was trying to install Handbrake and Chrome with out success.

For Handbrake, When I do make command, during the process it hangs when it show the following message:
Checking whether a statically linked program can dlopen itself ...

For Chrome, When I run
make -j5 BUILDTYPE=Release chrome

It gave me segmationtaion error, Action yansm germaco for cource/patched-yasm ... error 139.

Can anybody help me on those?
