I'll get the ball rolling with my four favourites:
A 3D spaceship over a forest that some 3D artist (I forget his name) put hundreds of hours into,
the Kubuntu 8.10 default,
some bamboo,
and an English manor house that gives a pleasant feel to my desktop.
