View Full Version : [ubuntu] 3D Graphics Issue with Lucid & ATI 9000

Hi all - this is my first post. I've tried various searches and haven't found anything quite matching this. Please forgive me if I am repeating though.

I upgraded my Dell D600 (ATI Mobility Radeon 9000) from Karmic to Lucid. On Karmic, all 3D effects (Expo, Rotating Cube, etc.) worked fine. On Lucid, all still work but, once once enabled, the 3D effect is very dim - almost as if the backlight on the effect itself is turned off (i.e., when rotating the cube, the cube is dark but the background Skydome is illuminated). Once the effect is over, normal illumination returns. Running Karmic from the live disk and the effects are fine again.

A buddy upgraded his D610 (next ATI in the line) and does not have the same issue.

Any help would be appreciated.

Open up CompizConfig Settings manager.
Under the "General" section, click on the "Display Settings" tab.
Make sure "Lighting" is un-checked.

Thanks - that fixed it.

Can't wait until I get "Way too much Ubuntu".

Glad it got you going.
