When Koala came out, it was suggested to do a fresh install to take advantage of the new GRUB that increased boot time. Which I did and it worked well.
For Lynx, I just let Ubuntu perform the upgrade. Now, after I log in, I get the blank purplish splash screen for at least 10 seconds before I get the menus to come up. On Koala, the menus came up very quickly after login.
Do I need to do a fresh install again? Or is this typical?
