Have an Fujitsu Seimens Amilo l7320GW. With Ubuntu 10.04 running. However I have a problem in that my LCD not recognised, so I ended up with just the top left 1280x800 of a 1600x1200 virtual screen. With previous releases I have been able to modify the xorg.conf file, but this is not present in this release. Where do I start.

Regards

Phillip

I prefer this method to creating an xorg.conf:

http://www.linuxreaders.com/2009/11/04/change-ubuntu-9-10-resolution/

But that does not change the login screen, to do that you must also:

http://www.ubuntugeek.com/how-change-display-resolution-settings-using-xrandr.html

In fact the latter of the two links will change both, but without the prior auto-login won't work.

If you prefer fiddling with xorg.conf you can generate one with:

sudo Xorg -configure

Then look here for how to edit:

Hi everybody,
with your help I could fix this problem under Ubuntu 10.04.Then, however, I made the mistake to update. The old xorg.conf doesn't seem to work any more with Ubuntu or Kubuntu 11.04. Has anybody had the same problem? Did anybody find a solution? It would be great if somebody could post an xorg.conf that works with a Fujitsu Amilo L7320GW and Ubuntu 11.04!!!
Thanks,
Florian

Well, not personally with the above mentioned hardware, But some of my past adventures/nightmares have taught me to keep a working backup of xorg.conf's in home directories. And just when I get over-confident and think I don't need one... poof = ](*,)
